There are still people who don't know this technique, despite it being ancient.
Yes, facial gua sha is not a TikTok trend. It is a practice with roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, a medicine that has been in use for over 5,000 years.
As an acupuncturist, I fell in love with the technique since I discovered it, and I was captivated by the ease and simplicity of working with a stone or crystal in such an intuitive way on myself.
Gua sha is a massage performed with a special stone as a guide in this moment of pure self-care and self-love.
The movements encourage lymphatic and Qi flow (vital energy), release tension, drain toxins, relax facial muscles, tone the skin, sculpt the contour of the face and even (phew!) help with the absorption of oil or serum that is being used in this massage. Good? It's wonderful!
I already call this moment a “ritual”, and it’s no surprise, as it awakens our body x mind connection. It's one of those moments when we offer ourselves affection and welcome. A much needed moment.
This is all wonderful, okay. But, there's still more. Gua sha is made of crystals, which are the Earth's DNA, true miniature deposits of power vibrating at certain frequencies. They have the ability to stabilize, regulate and amplify our energy field, exactly in the same way they are used in technology (notebooks, watches, etc).
In addition to vibrations, the minerals found in crystals may have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, they are conductors of infrared rays with the ability to penetrate the innermost regions of tissues, muscles and bones, which increases the production of collagen and elastin.
Use a good vegetable oil and try taking better care of yourself, in a natural and non-invasive way.
There's no way you won't fall in love with this technique too.
